..Colorin dress..

This pattern dress is already nice without color, but looks also great in your own chosen colors.

The dress is a result of a collaboration between a graphic designer, Michiel Schuurman, and a fashion designer, Berber Soepboer, the Color-In Dress is a DIY that can be hand-colored using markers.

..Vostok Printing Shop..

Barcelona is a wonderfull city for discovering new shops, bars and  restaurants.

Last December I came across the Vostok Printing Shop. It is a specialized shop in printing items and materials. The owners also make their own prints which hang in the shop. They are gorgeous. He even told me they won a price in Rotterdam. What a coincidence.

Ever since I saw the work of yellowowlworkshop I wanted to make some stamps myself. Well Vostok even shows how to make things on their website an they were very helpfull explaining me everything.

I am glad that it is still possible in cities to open these specialized and cute shops because that is what makes a difference.

..neon garland..

I like garlands, and I have a beautiful one hanging on my bed poster bed. But I like one for the holidays, that I can hang in a Christmas tree or use for wrapping gifts in a bright colour, neon preferably.

So with some thread and simple office stickers you can make these neon garlands yourself.

What you’ll need:

- Self-adhesive round stickers two sizes ( 1 cm and 0,5 cm)

- Thread (any colour you like to match)

- Ruler

Step 1

If you use thin thread double it two times so in the end you have four threads together. You can make it as long as you want it. Roll the threads together so they stick together.

Step 2

Put the threads along a ruler. Keep 5 cm at the beginning before sticking the first 1 cm sticker on the thread, turn it around and stick the other on top of the other sticker with the thread in between.

Step 3

Keep the thread next to the ruler and at 7 cm stick the enxt 1 cm round. Continue this until the end but do not forget to leave 5 cm at the end.

Step 4

In between the 1 cm rounds now stick the small rounds until all are filled.

Now hang it to brighten up your home or presents.

..I make Rotterdam..

Recently the project I make Rotterdam launched. It is bridge between Rotterdam central station and the former railway line Hofbogen. The office ZUS tries to get the money together through crowd funding, so I thought this to be a great holiday present to our family. I like the bottom up idea of helping to create an part of town and of immortalizing yourself on the bridge, because if you participate you can buy a wooden plank with your name engraved on it. This will be used to build the bridge. Probably it will take days to find out where our names are. 

..Animal tower..

Children these days have a lot of toys, sometimes too many. In our house we have a lot of animals and my friend Celinda of celinda.ceramics had the same problem. So we decided to make a animal tower artworks for our sons out of it. 

 

Need..

A box frame that has enough room for the animal tower (ours is of Ikea)

Animals, try to see if the stand well on top of each other

A spray paint for plastic, in colour you like (we like red)

Print a background in the size of the inside of the box ( a landscape for example)

Do..

Spray paint the animals, let them dry. If necessary repeat

Stick the paper background with glue spray in the box frame make sure it fits before

When animals are dry try put them on top of each other

Stick them with super glue that works for plastics

Our animals lean a bit to the back of the frame so that they have some support

Finally..
my sons find it hilarious that the giraffe sticks out it's tongue to the other animals

..Skyline..Rug..

With some leftover carpeting of our stairs I made this special skyline rug for our sons bedroom. My sons like having a rug because it gives them a place to play. And they love that the helped invent the skyline.

Just take the leftover carpet, flip it with the nice side down. Then draw the outline of your skyline, with a pencil and ruler, preferably a metal one.

Make it a simple skyline with big buildings, because the carpet is not easy to cut with a lot of detailing.

Try to draw the straight lines with the direction the carpet has been made, that will make the cutting easier and will give less threads.

Then just cut it with a Stanley knife and metal ruler, put something under, so you don’t cut your own floor.

Flip it around and cut threads with scissors if they appear. Normally the sides of a carpet would be sown all around, but that is a lot of work and I like it just simply cut. (Probably every so many months you’ll have to cut some threads)

.G.L.O.R.I.A.

The office I work at is KAW architects and we are housed in the Van Nelle designfactory. It is a modernist masterpiece
by Brinkman en van der Vlugt. Built in 1931 it embraces the design motto of light, air and has an amazing structure of mushroom columns and air bridges crossing the factory street.  We just had to say goodbye to a wonderful trainee, Spanish Gloria, she is leaving to start her own office in Barcelona. Recently we have started a new tradition in the office
as a present, we give them their name in a Van Nelle alphabet. The letters are made by details of the factory. The letterphoto’s have been taken by Gloria herself. Gloria thank you very much for your effort and style!

...Urban..Love...

I like to remember places that are unique to me.

For the 13 year anniversary with my love O. I made a gift with Google maps.

I  printed the three places that have been very special to us; Nancy in France, where we met,

our first house with the dragons in Gracia, Barcelona and our current family home in Rotterdam.

I stuck the square cut outs on 1mm cardboard and put them in simple white frame.

Every time I see it, it brings back the memories we have.
